On April 11, 2021, at 1:48 p.m., an officer with the police department of Brooklyn Centre, a suburb of #Minneapolis-Saint Paul, shot 20-year-old Daunte Wright. Daunte Wright was a black man; this was done during a traffic stop. Daunte had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
As officers attempted to detain him but Daunte re-entered his vehicle and an officer discharged their firearm, which struck Daunte as he drove off. Daunte crashed his vehicle several blocks away.
The equivalent to our paramedics arrived and attempted to revive him. Daunte was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Daunte's girlfriend was also a passenger in the car. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the crash and was transported to the hospital.
Since this has happened the ‘protests’ continues. There has been three nights of protesting, looting etc., since this has happened to Daunte Wright.
The GoFundMe set up for Daunte's has reached over half a million pounds. The money will go towards his funeral expenses and support his family.
