l am delighted to be facilitating and chairing this opening event for Black History Month with historian David Olusoga on 1st of October - black lives matter in black history. There will be a programme of events throughout BHM and I will also be chairing a panel debate and film screening and doing a book reading during the month.
To launch Newham's Black History Month programme, celebrated historian and TV personality, David Olusoga will discuss what Black Lives Matter means in the context of Black British history. David's television series includes Black and British: A Forgotten History, A House Through Time and The Unwanted: The Secret Windrush Files. His latest book is Black and British: A Short Essential History.
The online event, hosted on Zoom, will be facilitated by award winning human rights campaigner, writer and artist, Zita Holbourne.
