A volcano erupted "explosively" on St. Vincent, forcing over 16,000 people to evacuate parts of the island.
The volcano was dormant for decades. Disaster officials say it is unclear how long the eruption will last, and evacuees "might not be able to get back home for years."

The Caribbean island of St Vincent has been rocked by a huge explosion, as the La Soufriere volcano fired a huge plume of ash and hot gas into the skies.

Officials said it was "destroying everything in its path", amid fears for the safety of some residents who have refused to obey orders to evacuate.
