PACT celebrates Reading Children’s Festival
Reading based charity is inviting families to put on their dancing shoes and come and dance the afternoon away at its first family disco.
PACT is partnering with local school Hemdean House for an afternoon of fun and dancing.
Bring your dancing shoes and your best outfit as Crazy Times Disco plays tunes to get adults and children dancing.
We encourage children to come in fancy dress for a parade at the end of the afternoon where there will be a small prize for the winning costume!
There will be light refreshments on sale along with a tuck shop, balloon modelling, badge making and temporary tattoos for a small fee.
The event is suitable for children aged 11 and under and accompanying adults, all families are welcome.
All funds raised from the disco will directly support the local families, women and children affected by trauma that PACT works with every day.
PACT Adopter Diversity Recruitment Officer said: “This promises to be a great afternoon when families in our community can come together to have fun while knowing they are also supporting the families, children and women that need it the most.
PACT works to provide a safety net of support for families, children and women affected by trauma whether that is from adversity in childhood, domestic and/or sexual abuse or mental ill health.
This support is needed more than ever, right here in our town. Fundraising events like this are important to PACT to provide this vital support.
Our services enable women, families and children to make very real and profound changes in their lives.”
PACT supports children and families through their adoption services, providing loving, safe and secure homes to children who need them most.
One child adopted by a PACT family said:
“I like PACT so much. You have helped my life a lot. I will always remember you.”
Each year PACT’s Alana House community project supports and empowers hundreds of women facing multiple disadvantages.
One woman supported by Alana House said:
“To be honest, the way I was, if I hadn’t found Alana House I think something very bad would have happened. “Everything was going wrong and I couldn’t see a way out, but I was determined and I got the help I needed to rebuild. Through doing that it has actually made me realise how strong I am and I am determined to do great things.”
PACT’s Bounce Back for Kids recovery programme works with local children and parents who have experienced domestic abuse.
“Doing this Bounce Back course with my daughter has been one of the best things I’ve done. I was unsure at first…but I am so happy I did as it has opened my eyes and given me and my daughter the tools to move forward.”
