Greetings all
The North Wales Jamaica Society next Zoom Meeting is on Saturday 4th May at 3pm or at 9am in Jamaica for folks interested in exploring the shared history of North Wales and Jamaica. This is part of a joint project that is bringing the community from Pennants, in Clarendon, Jamaica, together with people in North Wales with possibilities to engage in exchange visits.
The North Wales Jamaica Society is linking up with the Bangor based Learning Links International specialist team, along with colleagues from the Pennants Heritage Research Group.
The North Wales Jamaica Society has worked for more than 10 years to build bridges of friendship between the communities in Jamaica that share the history of the wealth created on the plantations granted to the Pennant family in Jamaica, by their enslaved workforces.
We are now working together to create a Heritage Centre in Pennants to share the history of plantation ownership, by recognising the names of the enslaved workers and telling the stories of resistance in Jamaica that led to the eventual sale of the plantations.
