Firefighters from all four fire stations across the Reading area rushed to a block of flats in Kings Road Reading at around 1.45 am on Sunday morning.
Around 250 people were evacuated from the building while fire crews searched the building for a fire.
The fire alarm was set off by someone leaving a pan on the cooker that started to burn, one lady said the fire service arrived very quick thank goodness and thank you.
A firefighter told RCE News no one had been injured and everyone is safe also the building is too.
