💜 Buscot Heroes 💜
We love spotlighting Buscot staff and sharing the familiar faces so many families got to know. Today we spotlight Donna - who has been caring for premature and poorly babies for 15 years on Buscot.
A STORY ABOUT A NURSERY NURSE IN THE ROYAL BERKSHIRE HOSPITAL
Donna started her career on the ward as a nursery nurse and is now Band 6 Staff Nurse. She is responsible for coordinating shifts to ensure good communication is had within the team who are providing babies with the best medical and nursing care. She also specialises in discharge planning with the aim to involve and prepare parents.
I have cared for several extremely premature babies that require intensive care through to their discharge home, this journey can take up to 6 months. The bond made with the baby and family is developed throughout their journey" Donna shares.
Donna prides herself in giving excellent nursing care to her patients and she gets a great job satisfaction from doing so. She is there to liaise with parents providing them with support, advice and a friendly face.
If you were to bump into Donna outside of Buscot, you might find her out walking her dog or enjoying quality time with her family and friends.
